Gas jumps to $4 per gallon in Los Angeles, Statewide rose 9 cents this week

(Last Updated On: May 15, 2015)

Residents and tourists of Los Angeles are going to have to open up their wallets and rework their budgets as gas prices continue to rise. According to Cars.com, regular gas hit an average price of $4 per gallon on Thursday. Premium gas was at an average of $4.20 per gallon.

Gas prices are expected to rise until the Memorial Day weekend. However, AAA suggests that the price per gallon will still be lower than last year’s high.

Within this week, California gas prices have gone up 9 cents per gallon to $3.80 on average. This is triple the National average’s 3 cent increase. Additionally, California continues to be the highest in the nation while South Carolina is the lowest at $2.37 per gallon.

Driving has become more expensive throughout California and it’s not expected to come down until mid-summer. But, that’s not stopping analysts from predicting an increase in Memorial Day travelers, which could see a bump of 4.6% over last year.
