Earlier this week, the U.S. Coast Guard was called out to rescue a woman who had spent the night on the side of a cliff after she clung to a rock for at least 14 hours. According to a report by Times-Standard.com, it remains unknown as to how the Swedish tourist ended up on the side of the cliff dangling nearly 150 feet above the beach.
The rescue was flawless as two Coast Guard rescue copters arrived on scene around 10:30 am. It took about three minutes to get her hooked into a harness and off to a safer location. She sustained no major injuries and remained in good spirits after being checked out at a nearby hospital.
This ordeal had a happy ending. But that’s not always the case. It’s best to stay away from the edge of a cliff and any advanced trails during the night, especially if you have never been there before.
