Tahoe is well known for its winter skiing and its summer water festivities. Additionally, Tahoe is a tremendous place for hiking, camping and photography. Starting this summer, you will be able to add stargazing to Tahoe’s wonderful list of outdoor attributes. Northstar California Resort has just announced their new stargazing adventures – Tahoe Star Tours.
From June 19 through September 4, visitors are encouraged to spend their Friday evenings looking up at the beautiful Tahoe night sky. The tours run from 8:15pm to 10:30pm and cost $35 for adults. Children 12 and under cost $20. For those who can’t make the Friday night tours, there are Thursday and Saturday night tours held at the Dar Skies Cosmoarium.
Stargazers will gather in the backyard of the popular mountain resort and use “high-powered Celestron telescopes” to see the stars. There will be options to purchase a BBQ buffet and to participate in lawn games prior to the tour. The outdoor venue will provide blankets, outdoor heaters, comfortable seating and cocktails throughout the night.
Each Friday evening’s stargazing tour, will have a special theme and be led by Tony Berendsen, owner of Tahoe Star Tours and president of the Northern Nevada Science Coalition.
The elevation, the fresh mountain air and the amazing Tahoe night sky will make for an incredible stargazing opportunity.
Check out the official Northstar website for more information on these tours and to reserve your stargazing tickets.
